NATURALLY OCCURRING CONTAMINANTS IN GROUNDWATER
Naturally occurring contaminants, such as arsenic, have been found in a small number of local wells. Whether these contaminants pose health risks depends on the amount of the element present. Many local agencies offer self-test kits or professional on-site sampling services; prices vary depending on the level of testing.
Sample test kits and analysis can be provided by:
Wisconsin State Laboratory of Hygiene
Main Website: https://www.slh.wisc.edu/environmental/water/
Public Environmental and Water Testing Price list: https://www.slh.wisc.edu/environmental/water/public-environmental-and-water-testing-prices/
Analysis for Volatile Organic Compounds would include analysis of landfill-related contaminants
Other analysis may be appropriate to evaluate non-landfill contaminants, as desired
Sampling kits can be ordered by calling (800) 442-4618 or at our Customer Service desk in the lobby at 2601 Agriculture Drive in Madison, WI. Shipment of the kits to you is free, but you will have to pay for return shipment to our lab.
